Purpose:

As a follow-up to the March 2024 workshop, the goal for Workshop #2 is to have invasive species experts assess as many species from their taxon group as possible in order to build up the priority list of invasives threatening Everglades restoration.

The Florida Invasion Ecology Lab at the University of Florida – working with the USGS Wetland and Aquatic Research Center – has developed a transparent, defensible, and reproducible decision support tool hosted on the R Shiny platform. This tool prioritizes invasive species of greatest threat to Everglades ecosystems and their restoration. The group is working with the Invasive Species Team of the Office of Everglades Restoration Initiatives to recruit experts on various taxonomic groups and to source their knowledge as they evaluate various high-priority invasive species that threaten the Greater Everglades.
