DAY 1 - MONDAY, OCTOBER 1

Experience Southwest Florida’s Local Landscapes

2:00-4:00 - Sarasota Bay Explorers – Sea Life Encounter Boat Tour, with Tina Matthews, Master Naturalist. Pick up from the Hyatt Marina and space is limited. The 2-hour tour cruises through Sarasota and Roberts Bay and you will learn about the history, birds, wildlife and barrier islands. https://sarasotabayexplorers.com/sealife.html. 1:30-3:30 - Meet & Greet at the Bay Preserve - Hosted by the Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast. 1:30-3:30 - Triangle Ranch Hayride - Hosted by Triangle Ranch and Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast. Tour the Ranch with three miles of the Myakka River flowing through it along pine flatwoods, oak hammocks, and cattle grazing pastures. Blackbeard’s Ranch is a 4,500-acre working cow-calf operation located on the Myakka Prairie. The Ranch operates with a focus on conservation and sustainability and a commitment to restoring and protecting native habitats.  
  • 1:30 – 3:30 - Myakka River State Park – Join Park Manager Stephen Giguere for a hike along the Myakka River and travel through wetlands, prairies, pine flatwoods, oak hammocks. The Myakka River  flows through 58 square miles of wetlands, prairies, hammocks, and pinelands.
