Riverwoods Field Laboratory is situated at the edge of the historical floodplain on a remnant run of the channelized Kissimmee River in an area scheduled for restoration. Located on US highway 98 between the towns of Cornwell and Lorida in Highlands County, it is approximately 20 miles northwest of the city of Okeechobee and 20 miles southeast of the city of Sebring.
To get to Riverwoods from West Palm Beach: Take SR 710 (Bee Line Highway) to Okeechobee which is approximately 70 miles. At Highway 70, turn left (west) and continue through Okeechobee City to SR 700 (Hwy. 98). Turn right (north) on SR 700 and continue for approximately 23 miles, crossing over the Kissimmee River to Cornwell. Riverwoods is located on the right (north) side immediately after the Cornwell road sign. Look for the Riverwoods Field Lab sign.
To get to Riverwoods from Orlando: Take the Florida Turnpike south to exit at SR 60 Yeehaw Junction. Head west to US 441, go south to 68 West, and travel west to US 98. Take US 98 north over the Kissimmee River. Approximately 4.2 miles from the the Kissimmee River on the right you will see a sign for the town of Cornwell. Just after that look for Riverwoods Field Lab sign.
