Land Management at DuPuis

The South Florida Water Management District’s (SFWMD) land managers are responsible for managing public lands to protect biological diversity and productivity.  As DuPuis’ Land Manager, Justin Nolte’s responsibilities include:

Ecological Restoration and Maintenance

  • Prescribed burning
  • Rehydration of wetlands
  • Mechanical vegetation management
  • Exotic plant control
  • Upland planting

 Wildlife Reintroduction and Management

  • Wildlife monitoring
  • Threatened or Endangered species reintroduction (i.e. Red-cockaded Woodpeckers)
  • Habitat management to benefit wildlife

 Public Use Administration

  • Recreation planning
  • Facilities maintenance
