The
Agro-Ecology Program of the Florida Center for Environmental Studies
focuses on the interface between agriculture and natural systems
in Florida. The goal is to complement existing agricultural education
programs and promote awareness of Agro-Ecology issues such as the
values of land stewardship, sustainable agricultural practices,
and multiple uses of public lands to benefit both agricultural
and natural systems. The Agro-Ecology program has initiated public/private
partnerships that develop environmental and economic information
on the role of agriculture in resource conservation.
The cornerstone of the program is the Agro-Ecology
Conference Series . Each conference focuses on a different
aspect of Agro-Ecology, exploring research, management and economic
issues. A post-conference Working Group is
then formed to strengthen partnerships initiated during the conference
and implement the recommendations resulting from it. Further
information about the conferences and sample working group projects
can be found through the above links.
